La Ballade d’O (2005): Vanessa and The O’s spent 18 months crafting their debut album. While recording, Vanessa also collaborated with Lou Reed on a bilingual version of “Sunday Morning.”

The band brought in producer Pelle Gunnerfeldt (The Hives) for final touches, adding Per Nordmark (drums) and Bjorn Ytlling (keyboards) to the mix. Initially self-financed, the album was eventually licensed to Virgin/EMI Sweden (Scandinavia only) in 2005.

“La Ballade d’O” gained international acclaim after being named “Album of the Week” by London’s Rough Trade in September 2005. The band re-released the album on their Rushmore Recordings label in 2006, making it physically available in multiple countries by summer 2007. Digital distribution was also secured.
