The Moody Blues were an English rock band that pioneered the fusion of classical music and rock. They formed in Birmingham in 1964 with Mike Pinder, Ray Thomas, Denny Laine, Graeme Edge, and Clint Warwick. They had their first hit with “Go Now” in 1964, but changed their line-up and style in 1966 with the addition of Justin Hayward and John Lodge. Their album Days of Future Passed (1967) was one of the first successful concept albums and featured the classic songs “Nights in White Satin” and “Tuesday Afternoon”. The band continued to experiment with electronic instruments and philosophical lyrics in the following decades, influencing many other progressive rock groups.
