Al Stewart Hand Signed Year of The Cat LP.

Year of the Cat is the seventh studio album by Al Stewart, released in 1976 and engineered by Alan Parsons. Al Stewart Hand Signed Year of The Cat LP.

The album is considered to be his masterpiece, its sales helped by the hit single “Year of the Cat”, “one of those ‘mysterious woman’ songs,” co-written by Peter Wood. The other single from the album was “On the Border”. Stewart wrote “Lord Grenville” about the Elizabethan sailor and explorer Sir Richard Grenville (1542–1591).

Stewart had all of the music and orchestration written and completely recorded before he even had a title of any of the songs. In a Canadian radio interview he stated that he has done this for 6 of his albums, and he often writes four different sets of lyrics for each song.

The title track derives from a song Stewart wrote in 1966 called “Foot of the Stage” with prescient lyrics about Tony Hancock, one of Britain’s favourite comedians who tragically committed suicide two years later. When Stewart discovered that Hancock was not well known in the United States, he went back to his original title “Year of the Cat”.

This copy of the gatefold sleeve LP has been hand signed in green ink by Al Stewart and comes complete with our market leading 90 day money back guarantee and a life time COA.

FOR CUSTOMERS IN RUSSIA:

In recent years’ Russian authorities have increasingly tightened the regulations around shipping to their country. In 2016 a temporary ban on private individuals importing non-document shipments to other private individuals was in effect, with no definite end date given. In less formal terms, this means that if you want to buy a signed record from us and you live in St Petersburg, you need to have it sent to a business where you can collect it.

If you aren't able to collect your order, businesses in Russia are free to ship to other businesses, or private individuals, although the latter may involve extra paperwork. For businesses sending to private individuals, no tax or duties will be applied to shipments up to a value of EUR €1,000, or totaling 31kg per calendar month, anything above this will have duties and taxes applied. For all other shipments there is no import duty for packages below EUR €200 in value.
