Description
Presley Center Courts Business Cards for Principals Including “Chairman of the Board” Elvis Presley and Original Brochure. A Complete Collection of Four Cards in Mint / Mint- Condition.
In 1976, Elvis started his sole business investment venture, Presley Center Courts Racquetball Club, in Memphis. Land was purchased, construction plans were organized, bank accounts were opened, memberships were offered, business cards were printed and bills started to be charged to Elvis.
When the venture began mounting large debts and encountering issues, these hurdles could not be overcome and eventually resulted in the project’s demise.
After opening in April 1976, the courts were closed later that same summer.
For sale are four rare examples of the business cards that were printed for the executives on ivory card stock with the “TCB” logo in gold in the upper right corner and the Presley Center Courts logo with four racquetball racquets in the upper left.
Business cards include Elvis Presley, Chairman of the Board; Joseph Esposito, Vice President; Dr. George Nichopoulos, President; and T. Michael McMahon, Vice President.
The business cards also come with an original brochure that describes the center’s 10 regulation courts, locker rooms, weight and exercise room, sauna, pro shop, equipment rentals, lessons and clinics, and child care facilities. The brochure contains a detachable, mailable membership application card. On the reverse side of the brochure is a map of Presley Center Courts, located at the intersection of Mt. Moriah and Mendenhall.
These business cards, each measuring approximately 2 by 3 1/2 inches (5.08 x 8.89 cm), and brochure are a rare memento of a passing trend in sports history. The cards and brochure, measuring approximately 8 1/2 by 11 inches (21.59 x 27.94 cm) when open, are accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.
