About The Coral

Formed in 1996 in Hoylake, Merseyside, The Coral are a British indie rock band known for their eclectic blend of psychedelic folk, neo-psychedelia, and jangly pop. The original lineup featured James Skelly (vocals, guitar), Lee Southall (guitar, vocals), Bill Ryder-Jones (guitar), Paul Duffy (bass, saxophone), Nick Power (keyboards), and Ian Skelly (drums).

Their self-titled debut album, The Coral (2002), reached No. 5 on the UK Albums Chart and was nominated for the Mercury Prize. The single Dreaming of You became a cult hit and was featured in the US sitcom Scrubs. Their follow-up album Magic and Medicine (2003) topped the UK charts and solidified their reputation as pioneers of the early 2000s guitar group revival. Known for their surreal lyrics and vintage sound, The Coral have released over a dozen studio albums and remain active in the UK music scene.
