The First Year chronicles an appearance by Elvis Presley, with his original backup musicians, Scotty Moore and Bill Black, at Eagle’s Hall in Houston on March 19, 1955. Since the date was broadcast on local television, a primitive audio recording was made. This turns out to be low-fidelity, though it still conveys the excitement apparent at one of Presley’s earliest concerts.
