Elvis owned a ranch not far from Graceland, in Horn Lake, MS., where he and his friends enjoyed life in the open air and riding their horses. It is currently up for sale and belongs to a private owner who shows no interest in maintaining the location or ranch house. Fans are hoping that one day it will be possible to save the ranch and put it to good use.
Our Vision For The Ranch is to see it open as an attraction for Elvis fans and non-fans alike and also provide leisure facilities for the local community in Horn Lake Mississippi. Our aims and objectives are to sympathetically and tastefully restore the site to how it was when Elvis knew and loved it; enabling visitors to enjoy the tranquillity of the site, just as Elvis did, by providing walking trails, horse riding (hopefully creating a safe haven for rescue horses) and other outdoor activities (all with easy access for the disabled). We envisage the inclusion of a small museum and shop, along with a longer-term plan to provide a small amount of accommodation (perhaps in the form of log cabins around the lake) for short-term vacation lets.
The Foundation was created by Lesley Pilling over three years ago and is supported by many leading names in the Elvis World, Elvis’ close friends and the Mayor of Horn Lake. We are asking everyone, fans and non-fans alike, to get involved; 2013 has already been remarkable and there is so much more to come!
