Gwen Stefani is an American singer and songwriter who rose to fame in the 1990s as the lead vocalist of the rock-ska band No Doubt before embarking on a successful solo career.
She was born on October 3, 1969, in Fullerton, California, and grew up in Anaheim, California. Her father, Dennis Stefani, was a marketing executive for Yamaha, and her mother, Patti Flynn, was an accountant. She has two younger siblings, Jill and Todd Stefani.
Stefani’s musical career began when she joined No Doubt in 1986 as a backup vocalist. The band’s early music was heavily influenced by ska and punk rock. They released their self-titled debut album in 1992, which failed to make an impact on the charts. However, their third album “Tragic Kingdom” (1995) was a commercial success and established them as one of the leading bands of the 1990s. The album featured hit singles such as “Just a Girl,” “Spiderwebs,” and “Don’t Speak”.
After No Doubt went on hiatus in 2004, Stefani launched her solo career with the release of her debut album “Love. Angel. Music. Baby.” (2004). The album was a commercial success and spawned hit singles such as “Hollaback Girl,” “Rich Girl,” and “Cool.” Her second solo album “The Sweet Escape” (2006) also performed well commercially and featured hit singles such as “Wind It Up” and “The Sweet Escape”.
Stefani has also been involved in various other projects throughout her career. She has appeared as a coach on the singing competition show “The Voice” since 2014. She has also acted in films such as “Zoolander” (2001) and “Trolls” (2016).
