In 2007, Anna Strasberg – who manages Marilyn Monroe‘s estate – dropped two boxes of the icon’s personal papers. The boxes were found to contain everything from private letters to handwritten poems and diary notes, written on typewriter and in hand on hotel stationery, paper notes and in notebooks. Material that has never been published before.
Anna Strasberg entrusted a friend and advisor to the family, Stanley Buchtal, as well as French editor Bernard Comment from publisher Le Seuil in Paris to edit the material and prepare it for publication. In mid-October 2010, the found texts are published in their entirety in the United States (Farrar, Straus & Giroux), France (Seuil), Spain (Seix Barral), Germany (S. Fischer Verlag) and Italy (Feltrinelli) in a 272-page long and rich illustrated book entitled Fragments & Fragrances . The book is also published in Danish at C&K Forlag.
