Las Vegas Hilton Elvis Special Souvenir Package for December 2nd thru 15th 1975 engagement.

The Colonel came up with this idea because Elvis cancelled his summer 1975 engagement at the Hotel (see timeline below).  So what to do with all the pre-printed material printed for the August engagement that was cut short due to illness?  Sell it as a Souvenir Package for $3.00 at the December engagement!

This is the rarer Blue Hilton package paper bag which consists of:

1 x Summer Festival Souvenir Menu 1975  (11 x 11 inches)

1 x Colour Tour Photo (8  x 10 inches)

1 x Las Vegas Hotel Colour Postcard (4.5 x 6.75 inches)

1 x Elvis Christmas card “Seasons Greetings – Elvis and the Colonel” (5 x 7 inches)

1 x 1976 RCA Pocket Calendar (2.5 x 4 inches)

The entire package is in NEAR MINT CONDITION with only minor creases consummate with age.

Timeline: 

  • August 18: Elvis opens his new Vegas engagement with another tired and dispirited performance that is not lost on the press.
  • August 19: During tonight’s “dinner show,” an apparently exhausted Elvis lies down on the stage while singing. It was to become a too-frequent occurrence.
  • August 20: When the Colonel refuses to let the King cancel his last two shows due to “illness,” a bored Elvis can be seen repeatedly checking his watch during the gig.
  • August 21: Elvis is hospitalized in Memphis for a “fatigue state,” ending his latest Vegas engagement prematurely.
  • August 30: The recently disgraced President Nixon calls Elvis to wish him well during his stay. Nixon and Frank Sinatra are amongst those sending get well soon card.
  • December 2: Elvis makes up for his canceled Vegas dates with what all agree is a spirited and energetic show.
