Below is a comment from Kate Chertavian (KCFA) concerning this item given to the customer who purchased this item from Presley Collectibles:
This is definitely a portrait by David Bowie of himself. It was part of a series that he made. I don’t have the records of the other portraits to hand, however I am pretty certain that it is the real item. In so far as I was working with David when he produced portraits I’m able to say with absolute faith that this is a work by his hand, however I would have to check it is not a reproduction. It is great to see that these are still part of a private collection, and I congratulate you on your acquisition.

David Bowie was a legendary musician and performer known for his albums Space Oddity (1969), Hunky Dory (1971), and Heroes (1977).
An actor and an artist as well, he painted throughout his life and starred in several memorable films, including The Man Who Fell to Earth(1976), Labyrinth (1986), and Basquiat (1996).
“I suppose for me as an artist it wasn’t always just about expressing my work,” he once explained. “I really wanted, more than anything else, to contribute in some way to the culture I was living in.” Born David Robert Jones on January 6, 1947 in London, United Kingdom, he showed strong musical talent and creativity as a child before going on to study at Bromley Technical High School.
During the mid-1960s, already performing music as Davy Jones, the artist changed his name to distinguish himself from the Monkees lead singer of the same title.
In the next two decades, Bowie fundamentally changed music, transitioning from his alter-ego Ziggy Stardust to punk rock, new wave, and pop. The artist died after a prolonged battle with cancer at the age of 68, on January 10, 2016 in New York, NY.
Over the course of his career, the artist sold 140 million records worldwide and create a total of 28 studio albums, the last of which was Blackstar (2016).
