The Beatles Hair Collection.

THE BEATLES HAIR COLLECTION – A lock of hair from John, Paul, George and Ringo, each lock measures approx 1.75 inches, and comprises of dozens of strands of hair in a wooden presentation frame.

When The Beatles become famous and before they arrived in the USA The Beatles would go to their barbers in Liverpool. The song ‘Penny Lane’ mentions the barbers in the opening of the song. The hair was obtained from the barber shop where The Beatles got their hair cut.

Three COAs included – the lifetime Presley Collectibles COA, a letter from Simon Parr auctions Ltd and another letter from Omega Auctions that reads:

“The above lot comprises of four 9 cm’s x 6 cm’s cards with numerous strands of hair (at least 50 on each card) that have been sealed using cellophane/cling film.

Each card has their individual names on paper clipped to the card and also their initials written on the front and backs of the cards in pencil. The original owner of these clippings (Vivian Mulhall) lived in Ontario, Canada and was sent them in 1963 after they were obtained from the barber shop where they used to have their hair cut.

Presumably they were sent to her by Freda Kelly of the fan club but there is no way for us to corroborate this.

We are confident that the hair and the cards date from the 60’s due to the ageing of the paper clip, foxing on the card and the discolouration of the tape on the rear of the cards. These were purchased by the vendor as an estate auction following the recent death of Vivian Mulhall (maiden name.)”

Condition Report: Very good.

For context, a lock of John Lennon’s hair that was snipped as he prepared for a film role has sold for $35,000 at auction.

Dallas-based Heritage Auctions said that the 4-inch lock of hair was purchased by Paul Fraser, a United Kingdom-based memorabilia collector.

A German hairdresser kept a tuft of Lennon’s hair after giving him a trim before the Beatle started filming ‘How I Won the War,’ a dark comedy released in 1967.

This is a very rare collection of all four Beatles hair and a sure fire investment.
